Aleksander Kulisiewicz collection Kulisiewicz's work in Czechoslovakia, CSSR series articles photographs.

Contains articles written by Kulisiewicz and photographs collected by him while working as a foreign news correspondent for PAP (Polish News Agency) in Prague, Czechoslovakia from 1947 to 1953. The articles are not Holocaust related, but relate to contemporary events in Czechoslovakia. The photographs are stills of theater and film productions by Czech, Polish, and British companies. The majority of the stills have short descriptive captions on the reverse side. In addition to the theater and film stills, there are scenic photographs of Poland and Czechoslovakia; photographs of puppets and puppet plays; photographs of political meetings and rallies; and photographs of artworks, some with concentration camp themes. Also contains a file of photographs depicting various scenes of executions and the German invasion of Poland in September 1939 and a file of photographs of glassware from Czechoslovakia. The bulk of the documents range in date from 1947 to 1953. Some earlier and later dates do appear in the collection.

Aleksander (Alexander) Kulisiewicz (1918-1982) was born in Kraków, Poland in 1918. He was a law student in German-occupied Poland when, in October 1939, he was denounced for antifascist writings, arrested by the Gestapo, and sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, near Berlin. An amateur singer and songwriter, Kulisiewicz composed 54 songs during more than five years of imprisonment at Sachsenhausen.
